Son La prison was constructed in 1908 by the French colonist. At
first, it was a small provincial prison, and then was expanded to become a
place of detention for revolutionary soldiers.
Son La prison locates in the center of Son La town, on the top of Khau Ca hill from which you can have an overall view of the town.
The prison is a famous historical relic that attracts a large number of tourists. It was once considered a steel prison and a hell-on-earth aiming at breaking down the strong struggle of prisoners.
