
The Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist
Sangha in Quang Ninh province announced the organization of the Yen Tu
Spring Festival 2023. The highlight of the festival is the participation of
nearly 5,000 monks, nuns, Buddhists, and guests. pilgrimage with many
cultural and spiritual rituals.
Yen Tu Spring Festival is jointly organized by the Executive Board of the
Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (GHPG) of Quang Ninh province and the People's
Committee of Uong Bi City (Quang Ninh). This is the biggest festival on the
first day of Spring in Quang Ninh, becoming a meeting place to welcome
domestic and foreign tourists to visit and worship every Spring,
contributing to honoring, promoting values and promoting the image of Yen
Tu relics and landscapes.
To implement the program, the People's Committee of Uong Bi City has
established the Organizing Committee of the Yen Tu Festival and Spring
Festival 2023, clearly assigning responsibilities of the Organizing
Committee's member units; Strengthen the coordination between State
agencies, the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Quang Ninh
province and businesses in organizing, managing and promoting the
effectiveness of the festival to become a tourism product that attracts
tourists and Buddhists.
Notably, Buddhists and tourists returning to the Yen Tu Relics and Scenic
Area on pilgrimage to worship Buddha will be able to mingle with nature,
admire the majestic beauty of the Yen Tu mountain range, and experience a
health care spa. from the remedies of the Dao Thanh Y people at the foot of
Yen Tu mountain.
Venerable Thich Dao Hien, Deputy Head and Chief Secretary of the Vietnam
Buddhist Sangha of Quang Ninh province, said that this year's opening
ceremony was held in the Yen Tu flower garden area near Truc Lam Yen Tu
palace with the participation of nearly 5,000 dignitaries. Representatives,
tourists, monks, nuns, and Buddhists inside and outside the province
attended.
In addition to the main ceremony and festival, Tung Lam Joint Stock Company
hosts art performances, dragon and unicorn dances, and traditional martial
arts dances; organize folk games; Traditional music performances in Lang
Nuong, Yen Tu area; Displaying paintings and photos of the majestic and
sacred beauty of Yen Tu; Culture Dao Thanh Y ethnic cuisine at the foot of
Yen Tu mountain... before, during and after the Yen Tu Spring Festival
opening ceremony.
At the same time, Uong Bi City People's Committee presided over an
organization to respond to Vietnamese Poetry Day, scheduled for February 5,
2023 (January 15, the year of Quy Mao), at Dinh yard area, Nuong village,
Yen Tu.

pilgrimage to worship Buddha at night in Yen Tu; Taking advantage of the
sacred, quiet space at night of Yen Tu to create a unique value for
customers coming to the Buddhist holy land of Truc Lam Yen Tu", monk Thich
Dao Hien shared.
Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet, Vice Chairman of the Central Council of the
Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnamese
Buddhist Sangha in Quang Ninh province, said that the opening ceremony and
Yen Tu spring festival in 2023 will be held on the morning of January 31 (ie
the day January 10, Year of the Cat).
The opening ceremony to welcome visitors to the Yen Tu historical and scenic
area is a cultural activity aimed at serving the spiritual and cultural
enjoyment needs of all classes of people, contributing to honoring and
promoting the values of Yen Tu. Treat and promote the image of Yen Tu
relics and scenic spots to a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
"This year's Yen Tu Festival and Spring Festival is a recovery after 3 years
of being affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, causing festival activities to
be interrupted and people not having the opportunity to express their
religious beliefs," Hoang said. Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet shared.
As expected, Yen Tu Spring Festival 2023 will welcome more than 1 million
Buddhists, residents and tourists to pilgrimage, visit and experience.
Yen Tu National Park and Relics Area is the origin of Vietnamese Buddhism
and is a famous spiritual tourist destination of the country. Yen Tu
Mountain with a height of 1,068m has long been considered a famous mountain
in Vietnam.
As early as the 10th century, the Taoist Yen Ky Sinh came to practice and
attain enlightenment here, but Yen Tu only became truly famous when King
Tran Nhan Tong gave up his throne to come here to practice, study Buddhism
and became the first Patriarch of the Truc Lam Zen sect with the Buddha name
Dieu Ngu Giac Hoang.
Every year, Yen Tu attracts tens of thousands of tourists and Buddhists to
make pilgrimages and worship Buddha. As usual, Yen Tu Spring Festival begins
on the 10th day of the Lunar New Year and lasts about 3 months.
